MARK FARRIS combines his lush baritone, exquisite piano stylings, and good-natured humor to dazzle audiences in piano bars and cabaret lounges throughout the world.
Mark began playing the piano and singing at the age of five, under the tutelage and guidance of his father, an honored entertainer and teacher. His father is celebrating forty-five years of entertaining audiences around the piano at Jim’s Steakhouse in Peoria, Illinois. Mark continued his training at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, earning a degree in Music Education. He served as an award-winning high school music and theatre teacher before beginning his travels and career as a piano entertainer.
Mark debuted professionally in 2000 at the popular Gentry Piano Bar of Chicago. In the decade since then, Mark has entertained at numerous venues throughout the city, including 3160 Piano & Cabaret Bar and the Gourmet Grape, where his holiday performances have become legendary. Mark is the proud recipient of “Best Musician & Entertainer” from the Chicago Free Press. Mark also entertains in New York City, and has had the pleasure to play for such stars as Julie Andrews, Debbi Reynolds, and Chita Rivera.
In addition to his American following, Mark has acquired fans from around the world – principally through his nightly shows on luxury cruise ships sailing the Caribbean, Central and South America, Hawaii, the North Atlantic, and the Baltic and Mediterranean Seas. Throughout the year, Mark entertains on the six-star Crystal Cruise Line and Silversea Cruise Line. He also entertains at private parties and corporate events. For many of the past summers, Mark has entertained standing-room only audiences at the famous Montparnasse Piano Bar on the beautiful Greek Island of Mykonos.
In 2011, Mark’s entertaining engagements include: CRYSTAL CRUISE LINE, CHICAGO’S 3160 PIANO & CABARET BAR, and ATLANTIS EVENTS.
His CD, entitled “Mark Farris: Fields of Gold” features everything from George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Jerome Kern to Sting and Elton John, to Broadway show favorites.
